About Me

I am fiercely committed to helping intuitive, deeply thoughtful, heart-centered people (especially women) break free of the constraints that keep them from living the full expression of who they know in their hearts they are meant to be.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, or there is always too much on your plate, or there never seems to be enough time for what you want, you have come to the right place. With decades of experience helping people with similar worries to find the clarity and courage to create what they really truly want, my mission is to help you align with the divine spark in you and learn to live more fully from that essential fire.

In hindsight, I have been doing this work since I was a teen. Back in high school, I was the rare bird who was friends with everyone – intellectuals, artists, athletes, nerds, stoners. Across this spectrum, fellow students would come to me whenever they were struggling with something because they knew me as a warm, caring, non-judgmental presence who could help them get unstuck and realign themselves with what was true to their hearts. Of course, my teenage attempts were clumsy and I did not have the toolkit and capacity that I now possess in my fifties.

Many years later I formalized this calling by becoming a certified spiritual director. With almost 20 years working at Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, CA – an academic institution grounded in the Unitarian Universalist tradition – it was natural for me to pursue and obtain (in 2016) a Masters of Divinity in the same tradition.

What I especially appreciate about Unitarian Universalism is its focus on working to counter oppressions. There are so many horrific ways that humans in positions of privilege and power oppress others who they perceive to be lesser, through physical and psychological brutality. Living on the receiving end of ongoing oppressions can lead to internalized oppression, where individuals end up believing the stereotypes and misinformation communicated to them by society, often completely unconsciously.

Women are one of many marginalized groups who can end up oppressing themselves in this way, often believing that they are not “good enough” and need to constantly give themselves away to others in order to be worthy and lovable. While I am passionate about eradicating all forms of oppressions, helping women heal from their own internalized oppression inspires the work I am currently most called to.

Woven together with my seminary training, I have spent years learning from and contributing to Woman Within International, an international organization with a mission to help women discover, empower, embrace, and live authentically from all parts of themselves – basically, to be their very best selves.

Together, these two interrelated paths utterly transformed me. Through them I discovered that it is practically impossible to live from my highest self when I am inauthentic, out of integrity with the truth of my divine self, and hiding behind fear or shame. So I embarked on a journey of healing from the ways in which I oppress myself, aligning with the divine spark in me, and empowering myself for thriving and living in the flow of love and life. To be sure, this is a lifelong endeavor, and as I continue to humbly walk this path myself, I also bring this very same process to my clients.

I believe my calling as a spiritual director is to help my clients find and live from their own divinely inspired truth, in an experience of flow. What makes my heart skip with delight is when someone has a profound ah-ha moment and everything shifts into a deeper and truer experience of alignment. That is magical!

Some of how I do this is by:

  • Serving as a clear mirror for you so you can see the truth of who you are, maybe for the very first time
  •  Helping you slow down so you can notice when you are being true to yourself, authentic, and in the unencumbered flow of life, and when you are not
  • Allowing the Universe/God/Goddess/Love to direct you through me, by asking evocative questions, highlighting what I notice that may be invisible to you, or opening up fruitful inquiries for us to explore together on your behalf

If this sounds like the kind of guidance that would allow you to flourish into your fullness, I would love to schedule a complimentary consultation so that together we can figure out if we are a good fit for each other.
